You are so right, religious sectarianism does create division, and conflict, religious discrimination, racism and strife,
but not all religion does that, only False religion does, but in the true religion those types of things are not happening, but instead the true religion, are not only preaching love and peace but also actualypracticing them, and experiencing them and world wide.

I don't think religion and politics go together at all. It would be wrong for the goverment to try to stop religious parties from overpowering any other religion because the goverment has to be open minded about EVERY religion.
IMO, it is up to the followers of each and every religion to practice what they believe without being obnoxious about it.

Religion opiates the masses IE: "Followers, you have nothing and you have a dead end future, but you will get a reward after you're dead". In Iran do you think that the government wants to give the people social programs? Of course not, they're told to pray 5 times a day.

As Joshua of old said, choose this day whom you will serve, whether other gods or the Lord (Joshua 24:15)
God wants willing service, not forced worship.
The bible will guide you into the truth, John 17:17.
There is only one church, Eph 4:4, Col 1:18; Eph 1:22-23.

I wouldn’t want to live in any country that didn’t allow the FREEDUM to worship as one pleases, nor one that forces people to worship.
As to differences, intelligent people should learn to get along despite differences. Perhaps we can some day if we all make that effort.
But that’s for us to work toward, not the government to mandate
