What I use to do is if I had unexpected guest I would get a big box which I don't know why I always had some laying around and i would put everything in there then stick it in the closet. You know how many times a month or two later I would say oh yeah what about that box and find money or something I thought was lost. Now I don't do that now my house is ready for any guest.

I once stuffed something that smelled bad into my closet to hide it from visitors. But there was no way to hide the stench, and so I had to usher them out into the back yard, on the pretext that I would serve them drinks on the patio amid the gorgeous baby locust trees; and then I went back inside and locked the door; and there I got the marvelous idea of going out the front door, locking it behind me, and across the street to a neighbor's house, and borrowing her car and going to the mall, where I had a nice time just roaming around.
When I got home later that evening the stench in my house was horrid.

i am guilty, guilty, guilty !!! i keep a very clean house, but do not always have the time to put things back in their place. i don't even need sudden visitors to stash my stuff into a closet/storeroom every so often. !!

Yes I am guilty of such a thing. It is a quick pick up, but then you have to go back and re-do it.

Nope. If they come over unannounced, they get all the punishment of my busy life! Hhaha!
I do however, try to maintain a home that is clean and reasonably tidy. I get kinda stressed in clutter, so my house has a very open floor plan and children keep their toys in their playroom.
Remember a house should be clean enough to be healthy and messy enough to be happy!

One time and one time only I put dirty dishes in my stove b/c I was not expecting company. As soon as they left I did my dishes I was so irritated with myself that I had to do that to begin with, Yes it is normal Just the other nithg I had three loads of laundry to put a way and company came and my husband took them through the hole house while they were in the basement I ran up stairs to our room and put the baskets in my closet, I think it is a normal thing to do....

I have thrown dirty laundry into the bath tub and drawn the curtain closed, put dirty dishes into the oven also. This was a long time ago when the children were small. If it was my Mother coming I would be especially frazzled.

Guilty as charged! I have even gone so far as to simply guide sudden visitors to the back yard (at the time it was cleaner & neater than my house!)

Nope, I'm probably one the worlds biggest clean freaks, everything has it's place and that's where it should go, You make a mess you clean it otherwise the war path is on.
