I am not on this site to socialize but if I can answer questions and possibly pass on some of my limited knowledge to someone who could use it, it makes me happy. (I also tend to answer other questions just to add my comment)
My private life is as full as I want and I am very happy with that private life. How does one know if those on here are truthful in their assessment of themselves.
Age add knowledge and experiences teaches. As you get older, maybe you will understand what I am saying.
Good luck in you life and may you find what you are looking for. Smile a lot, also.

Most of the time I don't think it is a concensious thing. We try to put our best foot forward espically when we are trying to impress someone. but your right sooner or later the real truth and the real you does come out

Self Preservation!! They do not want real them to come out. They want to fit in and They don't want to to be excluded. It is to keep them from being hurt. Sometimes this works but most of the time it does not.

whats the point in lying? you only get found out and made to look stupid.

people pretend they are somethign they are not if they worry they will not be accepted or they do not love themselves enough to tell the truth but also the sick perverts do it for other reasons but we wont go into that.

Well in this situation on the internet, you can be who you want to be, you don't have to get two close unless you really want to. In real life I don't know, possibly because people arn't really that interested in who you really are, and so we don't trust them with that information.

I think it indicates an insecurity or inferiority complex, they make things up to look better in the eyes of their peers, unfortunately they are not bright enough to forsee their undoing later.

It is weakness of character, usually found in the immature

Hell, no! It's taken me years to build up all the barriers between me and the outside world, and I'm not letting them down for just anyone!

Maybe they just try to deflect attention from things people won't (and in their past experience) do not like about them, things that aren't perceived as good, like slowness at certain things or more liberal thinking....
