Omnipotence cannot exist as it creates paradoxes which destroy it. For example : an omnipotent being cannot/would not create a rock so heavy that it could not be picked up, even by themselves. If it did create such a boulder it would destroy it's own omnipotence. If it could not create such a boulder then again it's own omnipotence is null and void.
An omniessent God destroys the idea of free will and choice and as such it destroys all concept of Sin , therein making the concepts of forgiveness and ultimately heaven and hell pointless. For a God to know everything, including our future, they already know our choices and ultimate destiny before we're even born! Our lives would only have the illusion of choice. For such a being to exist it would render our lives pointless and destroy almost every pillar of every faith, especially prayer. Why pray when the future is already written? Everything about our lives would be futile as would any form of afterlife and reward/punishment.
God, as an all powerful, all knowing being destroys itself by it's very own existence.

This is touched on by the film Stigmata where the scrolls of St Thomas are found towards the end of the film (the scrolls exist and are not just made up for the film). These scrolls are said to state that Jesus is to have said there are no need for Churches, Priests, Pope's etc. The scrolls say that god is supposed to have said "I am everywhere, break a piece of wood and I am there, lift a rock and you will find me".
The scrolls were declared heresay and confiscated by the Vatican for obvious reasons. They would pose a threat to the chruch so had to be silenced. Actually there's so many scrolls etc that could be placed in the bible but are not as they go against some of what we've been told or read.
It would be very interesting to gain access to the Vatican vaults as I'm sure you'd find more out that you bargined for.

Free will appears to be the answer to the question of why God does not wield the power he has, when rational explanantion concludes God does not have the power we believe (if he exists at all). If you remove the concept of free will, then there is no longer the good and bad that religion uses to punish and reward. Hence there is an undermining of religion. The praying and the rituals are little different from the techniques used to alter peoples perceptions, if you repeat something long enough then you will begin to believe it (that is the fundamental principal behind brainwashing). I do not wish to challenge anyone's beliefs but this is just one of the many contradictions of religion, those grey areas where a none specific answer can be given. Growing up in the roman catholic faith these broad all sweeping answers were what caused me to loose my faith.

I am a mother of two small girls; they will both tell you that Mommy sees all, knows all and can weld some almighty power when necessary .... but nothing makes me happier than to sit and talk with them, even about the silly stuff. (Of course, unlike God, I'm not any of the 3 big O's, but they think I am lol)
They will also tell you that they need to talk to me; just talking things out occasionally will put things in perspective

Praying helps build a relationship with God. God can supply all our needs without us having to ask, but how would we know? If we ask God for something or about something and we get an answer, then we know it was given by God. Praise and worship is important for us, not for God. First of all, it is good to be graeeful for what we have. Secondly, it is good to remind ourselves about who God is and what He has done for us.
It is not a question of negating free will, either. All parents like their children to talk to them, ask them for things and about things. God is no different. He is the pattern for parenthood, after all.

There is no need to pray. That is the simple answer.
Whom will you pray to? Himself.
God is not a person. Thats how bible & qur'aan has been preaching for ages. People have been fooled for centuries. A lie repeated for centuries have become the truth for the followers.
god is everywhere - in me, you, the rock, the tree. its him in everything and everything is him. that is the truth. a simple truth two religions do not want to accept. because the holy books do not approve it.
We hindus have always believed that god is everywhere. every hindu can call himself god. Aham Brahmasmi, means I'm God. A Hindu sees god in everything - living & non-living, in what can bee seen & not seen. "Tatvamasi" - Thou art that. This is not philosophy, but Darshan - seeing. Hindus do not have philosophies, they have only darshan. They see, feel, live god.
Thats why Hindus have now closer to 830 million gods, the entire hindu population. that means all the hindus have a personal god of thier own. Is there any religion this can happen?
If god wanted to exert control as in bible &qur'aan, he could have created puppets. puppets do not have a life of thier own. they act when the master says act and so on. but the world is not so. world will go on whether we like it or not, whether it agrees with holy books or not. whether it agrees with prophets or not. whether we pray to him or not, god will not bother. he is least interested in all those prayers.
A PRAYER IS A COSMIC COMPLAINT BOX. GOD HATES PRAYER.
Live your life like god. you will realize god. we are here to attain godhood. Enlightenment is Godhood. Lets attain it.

Good and bad things happen to non-prayers and prayers alike. It makes no difference. The people who pray don't live longer, healthier lives, they don't get better jobs, they don't win State Lotteries any more often than people who don't pray. The power of prayer is religion salesmanship, it doesn't change a thing. I'm watching the World Series on TV and they show people in the stands praying for St. Louis. But what about the people in Detroit who are praying for the Tigers? Prayer doesn't change a thing, the same thing is going to happen. Religion sells hope. They talk about the power of prayer but not about prayer-failure. I know people who lost loved ones on 9/11. The people stuck in the Twin Towers were praying and unfortunately it didn't change a thing.

firstly, u must know that God doesnt ask a question because He doesnt know the answer, He asks to make us realise the issue there.
secondly, God gave adam free will, He could have cut down the tree, but no He is not domineering. since adam choose to do it, then he has to pay a price.
thirdly, you have not because you ask not.
lastly, for God so loved the world that He gave. He gave. He didnt negate us of free will! He gave us Jesus, yet we are free to reject or accept His perfect agape love.
In worldly sense, would u give your child anything he wants whenver he just gives the slightest hint?
do u want them to take things for granted?
would u do that and spoil him?
if he throws the pen away and hints that he's not happy about schoolwork, would u stop him from schooling for his own GOOD ?

It's "omniscience" as in omni science.
Here is one of the mysteries of the faith! God does respond to our prayers, and He does answer our prayers, sometimes "yes," sometimes "no," sometimes "wait."
Remember that prayer is not just about asking for stuff. Rather prayer is: ACTS
Adoration
Confession
Thanksgiving
Supplication
Prayer is not primarily for God's benefit as in telling Him something He does not know.
Prayer is, instead, for our benefit; we get so much from this act of worship that I am amazed that people neglect it so badly.
God does not desire that we should sin against Him, but we see that God's will is NOT always done, this is what we call sin. Our free will is seen in the fact of sin. Omnipotent God restrains Himself from immediate judgment by His patience with us.
Romans 2:4
Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

Because this omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent God tells us to do it. If He is omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent and He thinks we should pray then who are we to telll Him that He is wrong. Matthew 6:7 "And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.
"So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
