The original-language terms (Heb., ne´phesh [???]; Gr., psy·khe´ [????]) as used in the Scriptures show "soul" to be a person, an animal, or the life that a person or an animal enjoys.
The connotations that the English "soul" commonly carries in the minds of most persons are not in agreement with the meaning of the Hebrew and Greek words as used by the inspired Bible writers. This fact has steadily gained wider acknowledgment. Back in 1897, in the Journal of Biblical Literature (Vol. XVI, p. 30), Professor C. A. Briggs, as a result of detailed analysis of the use of ne´phesh, observed: "Soul in English usage at the present time conveys usually a very different meaning from ??? [ne´phesh] in Hebrew, and it is easy for the incautious reader to misinterpret."

The soul is a tool created by those who have a need to somehow elevate man above all other life on the planet so that they won't feel that they are just a smarter version of the kind of life that smashes into your windshield when you drive. In actually, we are just that and no amount of wishing will make us anything higher than what we are. The so called soul, is a tool that facilitates conning people into somehow thinking they can survive the finality of death.

So hard to define... my opinion is that your soul is your essence, it is you. It's your personality, your life. Without a soul your body would be lifeless.
Maybe you could say the soul and body have a symbiotic relationship. The body houses the soul and in return the soul gives the body life.

We are made of body, soul and spirit. The soul is the personality and the emotions.
The spirit was created to worship God through Jesus Christ.
When we die, our spirits and souls will leave our bodies and either go to heaven or to hell for eternity, depending on whether the person accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour.

Your soul is what will go to heaven or hell depending on what you do now. It is not the same as the Spirit which is what God gives to us (His Spirit when we seek for it).
We are made of 3 elements: Body (physical), Soul (emotions) and Spirit (spirit).

your soul is the part of you that science cannot explain yet, it is your ability to recognise yourself and your life as an independent being. it is also the part of you that is used by religious leaders to make you capitulate to there Will be saying "you soul is at risk if you do not belive"

you have a soul, spirit and flesh that is one your flesh isthe one that always wants to sin or that is too tired to go to church or read the bible, you have to live more inspirit and soul than with your flesh your spirit and soul is what you need to have a relationship with Jesus and strive to live for Him. Your soul goes to heaven or hell one day it all depends on you.
