Hello Emma... Did you ever have a dreadfully frightening nightmare in which an English demon wearing a hooded mask, with blood dripping from its fangs, was holding the severed head of an old lady whose dear little dog had just been sacrificed in some sort of satanic ritual?

If not, then you have a most ridiculous opinion of a small nation that has given the world a universal, incredibly flexible and descriptive language; the concept of fair play; the first written document on which nearly all western Bill's of Rights are based (including the USA's); the idea of a Two House Parliament in which the voice of the people is heard; a system of Law which forms the basis of all western legal systems; a literature of unsurpassed beauty and richness; a scientific history and reputation that is the equal of any nation; a system of higher education that still attracts students from all over the world; a phlegmatism that instils a sense of calm amongst its people when something disastrous occurs; and a reputation for politeness and hospitality that still prevails amongst the majority of the population. And, on a lighter note, despite its crowded roads, it is still the safest country in which to drive, with an accident rate per 100,000 of population _three_ times less than in the USA!

Perhaps you need to come over and spend a few weeks in England, staying in places away from London and other big cities and get to know the real English people. Then, like so many wealthy Americans, you might even want to make it your home. The demon of your dreams do not exist!

Kings are not God's
More recently an Empire that the Scots and Scots-Irish played a large part.
Industrial Revolution, enlightenment, also Scots.
Literature.

Lately Big Ben, Queen etc.
Tony Blair and Iraq and in the Muslim world his concerted attempt to vilify Muslims.

Future
