Yes, it is very possible that the prednisolone could be doing this. Prednisolone can cause rapid weight gain and many other harmful side effects. Please visit the website that I have cited for more information.
Other side effects of prednisolone and corticosteroids range from mild annoyances to serious irreversible bodily damages. Side effects include fluid retention, weight gain, high blood pressure, potassium loss, headache, muscle weakness, puffiness of and hair growth on the face, thinning and easy bruising of the skin, glaucoma, cataracts, peptic ulceration, worsening of diabetes, irregular menses, growth retardation in children, convulsions, and psychic disturbances. Psychic disturbances can include depression, euphoria, insomnia, mood swings, personality changes, and even psychotic behavior. The bone and joint complications of corticosteroids are discussed above in Drug Interactions.

Yes it is the prednisone. Long term use causes extreme hunger because you feel a greatemptiness in your stomach. Once you eat, you feel better, but only for a little while and then you need to eat again. Otherwise you get very nauseous. Lots of other side effects from this medication, too. You'll probably also experience increased energy and sleepless nights. Be careful of the rapid weight gain. It is not worms.

Prerdnisolone leads to increased appetite. Worms do not do so. That is an old wives' tale. In fact, worms cause loss of appetite.

Could easily be the steroid. Hopefully, you are only taking it short term. Are you also thirsty all the time? Are you making frequent trips to the bathroom to urinate? Steroids can make some people diabetic. Increased thirst, hunger and urination are signs of diabetes. It's easy to check. Ask your doctor.

"Have you stopped beating your wife?" is the best known, I think. Another one that was used when someone was trying to start a fight with you was, "Are you looking at my girlfriend?" If you say yes, you get attacked. If you say no, then the guy says "Are you calling me a liar?" If you say yes, then you get attacked. If you say no, then he says "So you were looking at my girlfriend?"... and so on.
