I would have to say it depends on the role and the sin involved. The person who brought up pornography has a valid point: there are some roles that Christians should not be acting in at all. However, if a Christian man is working on a Biblical piece as, say, Herod Antipas, it will not be "his" sin to accurately portray the character as a bloodthirsty, arrogant, double-dealing politician, willing to murder babies to protect his own crown.
I would think the hardest part about being an actor or actress would be in portraying sex. That is where the lines between physical acts and emotional/mental priorities get confused. The portrayed temptation can become real. Whenever the act begins to threaten the actor/actresses' actual integrity, by providing real temptation, I would say the actor/actress needs to consider turning down the role.

God judges more the thought than the act. The Bible tells us that God will bring every thought and deed into judgment; therefore, an actor cannot claim professional license as an excuse for acting out sin. Sin is sin, and anyone who portrays a sin to the world is guilty of that sin, regardless of the outward intent. No actor can participate in a sex scene and claim innocence.

Yes it is sin to act out anything that is against the Ten Commandments. If you are an actor and playing the part of someone commiting adultry it shows that you condone it by acting it. It is just like when I became a born again Christian, I had to quit bartending because serving alcohol means that I condone people getting drunk because I am the one giving them the drink even though I only looked at it as a job and did not drink alcohol myself. When you are born again and saved you give your life to God and you accept Jesus as your saviour.

no, definitely not unacceptable! and besides, no one can abstrain from sins, being in this world yet not of this world.
be a good actor if u are one, do ur role well! like how Joseph and Daniel did their roles well and shone for God! be the light of the world, salt to the earth!
Daniel certainly knew babylonian stuff well, he was the chief of their magicians and priests! however he refused to partake in their food, a symbolic meaning of his faith. THere's a limit, but not so high like legalism, neither is it so low like there's no God.

Maybe it is a sin to portrait sin to a society, wouldn't we be better off to portrait righeousness to people and lead them into righteousness than as God says about the end time, "Every imagination is only evil continually".
Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."

Depends on the role...
Playing a role in a porno? Yeah!
Playing a drunk? No.
Although this is what I think, I'm pretty sure that Paul teaches that you should not cause another believer to fail. If you are playing the role of a drunk and a real alcoholic is watching, will you cause him to want a drink?
Take this as you will. Its a tough thing to be a Christian actor/actress.

That's a good question.
I think the answer is, like anything else, acting can be used for good or evil. If the theme of the piece is promoting good, then act away, no matter what your part.
If the project is promoting evil as good, I'd stay away.

In the Bible , it does say to abstain from all appearence of evil. But are you commiting a sin, because it is in the script to do so? I can't answer that, but you can.
