All police records are PUBLIC RECORDS. If the case has been closed you can go to the Police station's records department and request a copy of the police report, they must comply with the Freedom of Informations Act. They will most likely charge you a fee to obtain the report, but you will only recieve the actuall police documents, not any of the court documents. If you wish, you must then go to the court if the case was heard before a judge and conduct the same procedure there. --- Good Luck.

PS. If you are in a hick town that has not become aquanted with the Freedom of Informations Act, and they decide to give you a hard time, go to the following to get a copy of the Act:

USLIBERTY has no idea what he is talking about. The freedom of information act applies to FEDERAL AGENCIES ONLY. It does *NOT* apply to state/local law enforcement record keeping. Check the link you posted, it even says so in there.

Go to the sheriff's office of your county and ask for a copy, all you will have to provide is your fathers name. The only crimes that are not released are those involving minors, sex crimes, and cases that might be comprimised if the report was released before the investigation is complete. You should have no problem though. Sorry for your loss.

Go to the record section of your local police dept/sheriff's office. There is a fee for this.
