what I do is a routine with my 2 year old, but I have been doing this routine since he was born. I just make sure he gets plenty of running around time in the day time, and at 9am, he takes a nap, and usually he wakes up at around 12-1pm. Than we make lunch together and eat together, we than will run around, play games until his 4 older brothers get home, and than they will take him outside for anywhere from 40 minutes to a couple of hours, and than we all make dinner together, and eat together, than he gets a warm bath with that johnsons baby lavendar bath stuff, than we read to him, and let him run around some more and than at 8pm he goes up to brush his teeth, and than he goes to bed watching either a baby einstein movie, or his elmo movies, and usually after about 20 minutes he is fast asleep. You must have some kind of a routine and not give in to him. It may take him a while to get used to a routine, but if he keeps on getting out of the bed, than just pick him up and say we can't keep on getting out of our beds, and keep tucking him in. It may take him awhile to stay in bed, but eventually he will stay. And make sure he gets a drink of water or warm milk before bed time, that always helps too.

We told my little brother that if he sleeps on his own, the dream fairies would come and give him good dreams and that he might get a surprise at the end of the week if he stayed in his bed at night. Something like a cookie or fairy cake! Something that the child likes! Then increase the time to a month and then 2 months and so on! They'll soon get used to it and go to sleep by themselves. You can also use this method with the bottle fairy for milk bottles to beakers and then cups. Or even with a dummy!
Hope this helps you! :-)

My 3 year old hates naps, but i get him to take one everyday and he stays in bed at night, or he gets a spanking if he gets up more than once. When its nap time. I make it fun, i give him the choice of sleepin on his bed or on his floor, of course he picks the floor!! so i let him make his own bed on the floor with some blankets let him get some stuffed animals, and tell him he just has to take a real small nap, once they fall asleep it will end up being like 2 hours lol, then tell him the faster he closes his eyes and gets to sleep the faster he gets to get up, Always works for me!!! GOODLUCK!!!

Let him sleep in your bedroom floor on a little cot or blanket that way he can still feel the comfort of having you in the same room with him. Tell him, mommy is going to sleep in her bed and you are a big boy so you should sleep on your little bed. That is what worked for my son.

Set a regular nap time. Usually 1 p.m. is best. (Do not take him shopping at this time. Very important! The stores are full of tired, screaming children at this time of day.)
You also lay down to rest. Your child will get used to this routine and put himself to bed.

hmm...tough question... try as many different methods as you can think of!!! i have seven younger siblings, and bedtime is the hardest part of the day, by far! so i can't really give you any one suggestion but this: try something new every day, until you find something that works for you!
