There are thousands of places on the Net to see pictures of some of the outrageous and beautiful gowns women wore then, but I'll take advantage of this opportunity to mention that the silhouette is the most important feature.
If you have a minimizer bra, wear it; the look at the time was to be small-breasted, nearly flat. Women of the period bound themselves!
The Flapper was reacting against the (then) current fashion, which included a tightly laced corset...and so they not only refused to wear them, their dresses were cut to obscure the waist entirely, giving a straight and boy-ish figure.
The hose were not attached to anything (how shocking!), but were folded down to the knee, and then a coin was twisted in the top and tucked under the stocking to hold it up. You could do this with semi-transparent "trouser socks", if they are pale in color, and knee-length.
It sounds like a delightful project; good luck!

Yes. My mother was young in the 1920's and I have pictures of her. The dresses were short above the knees with a ruffle around the hem. No defined waistline. The neckline a "V." Usually a brooch at the point of the "V." Wear long beads. The shoes looked like Mary Janes with a low heel. I think their stockings were white. That is about what I get from the old pictures I have. I hope you have fun with this and I wish you the best.
