I wasn't aware that we did. the hump, but not the pip.

It comes from the use of the word "pip" to signify some nagging ailment, a feeling of unwellness which can't be pinned down. When something gives you the pip, it makes you feel irritable to the point of nausea.

I think it means that if you eat fruit with a pip in it it is an unpleasant experience - and so you are having an unpleasant/annoying experience

I've never said it - or heard it. Closest I know is "toodle-pip".
