I live in Nanjing, Jiangsu. The only beer that I've found here is pretty light and watery; much like Budweiser. My question has two parts: (1) Is there dark beer made in China that is available in Nanjing? (2) If so, where can I find it? I am from the Seattle area and I miss all the great microbrews that the Pacific NW has to offer!

i have only been to shanghai, which has the Shanghai Asia Pacific Brewing Co (SAPB). they make tiger beer, reeb, etc. which are all light lagers.

almost all of the chinese beers are light. (cultural thing)

you can go to xin tian di. that place is an upscale entertainment complex with restaurants/bars that serve darker ales.

there is also an irish pub in shanghai that serves stouts.

Go to http://beeradvocate.com/beerfly/ and search. I didn't do the search, because it wants you to set up an account with them. I don't drink but on rare occassions.
Hope that helps.
