Right now Morphine . Keep a headache diary and see what might be your triggers. This may sound silly but put a bananas skin on the back of you neck below the hair line . I t will give you and infusion of potassium. Goggle Migraine and you will find out what are migraine triggers. If you are nauseous try and vomit for some reason it helps me. Migraines make me horny and they have found that an orgasm will release endorphins to ease of knock out the migraine.

the trick is to recognise the oncoming symptoms and take your medication I'mmediately. I find that delaying this means im totally paralysed for several hours.

Ive tried most of the medication out there, and its generally hit or miss. I'm still waiting for one that works well.. after 20 years

I can minimise it by wearing dark glasses as well as closing my eyes, and recently bought a sleep mask (even better).

Laying on the sofa is as effective as going to bed IF there aren't kids to disturb you. Its a bit boring in a dark room if you aren't actually tired - quiet TV or music actually rests me and i fall asleep anyway.

good luck

Hello,

My approach involves pumping myself full of pills, (i find paracetamol, ibruprofin and condine combined are a nice and safe mix) and then going to lie in a dark room and sleep till I feel better. Also, I find, If I feel sick and can be sick, I feel better almost instantly. Also, both my mum and I find that drinking lots of water and eating some carbs like a baked potato can help, we sometimes find lack of carbs bring on a migraine. Be aware that the combined pill can cause migraine and if it is, its not a safe pill for you...

If you have a persistent problem then you need to see your GP. Ask him/her for some SUMATRIPTAN tablets. This drug is a 5-HT1D receptor agonist and can be quite successful in relieving migrane pain.

I don't think you can get rid of it you poor thing. I once got some great drugs off a doctor in Sydney, but very unhelpfully can't remember what they were called but took them with anti-nausea pills and they did the trick. They were grey and sludgy green capsules!! I'm thinking of getting an ice helmet. I'm sure that would help xxx

hi there.
i suffer from them too, i always go for a lie down in a very dark and quiet room, and have a sleep as that relaxes your brain.
you can always try to prevent a bad migraine by drinking plenty of water during a day,as dehydration is a cause of migraines.
hope this helps.

Avoid triggers such as stress or whatever you feel is triggering it. It might be lack of sleep, or there might be concomittant problem with your vision .
Be sure that you take your medication when you start feeling the headache. When you take it at the height of the headache, then the medication wont be giving its full effect.

for me the only thing that works is ibruprofen. any anti inflamatory pain relief should help. sometimes it's because i'm hungry so maybe have a sandwich with your painkiller and try to get some sleep. good luck. migraines are horrible.
