All of the main streets in the town where I live, have chewing gum embedded on them.

I think that chewing gum should be banned, do you agree?

Of course the makers of chewing gum, could add a chemical to their chewing gum, that will cause it to disolve after a time, but I guess they are more interested in big sales and could care less about the cleanliness of our streets!

Banning chewing gum all over the world and especially in America, would result in much cleaner streets everywhere.

I guess that most Americans, would find it almost impossible to survive without their chewing gum.

I agree that it should be banned. It,s a vile product. There are few things as unpleasant as talking to somebody chewing gum.
Even people who chew to stop smoking could use a differant product.
So yes ban it.

That sounds like a good idea about adding an ingredient that will make it dissolve after a time.

Americans need to exercise their jaws for all the pointless talking they do, so yes, there would be outrage at the banning of chewing gum. This is a country that just decided that fencing themmselves off from Mexico is a good idea. Not exactly the brightest people on the planet.

I'm sorry to hear how Scotland is full of chewing gum on the streets.

I think that people who are using chewing gum as a step to quit smoking would not appreciate your suggestion.
I am am an "exported haggis myself" and I have never seen chewing gum on the streets here in the States. People here put their used gum in a napkin or tissue before they dispose of it.
Also here in Georgia, where I live, the street cleaners come round and clean the streets.

It's illegal in Singapore (although they allow foreigners to take in a small amount for personal consumption!!) and the streets are immaculate compared to the UK. There wouldn't be a problem if ignorant idiots disposed of it properly but since I think chewing gum makes you look like a total **** anyway, I say yes - ban the stuff!

There is a guy in London who paints pictures on the gum in the streets, really cute and very artistic, it looks better than the blobs of grey on the floor, and the council still come and clean it up, but it looks prettier in the process. I do agree that it should be banned though, there is nothing worse than sitting on a bus and then getting up to discover that you have a string of someone elses gum attached to your bum, it's gross.

I'm with you...I see people chewing gum all the time and they look like cows chewing cud. The people who crack gum are particularly annoying not to mention the ones who can't just keep it in their mouths until they pass a trash receptacle to throw it away, opting instead to stick it on chair backs, under seats, etc. Do they do that at home??

Banning it's not going to happen though is it?
Impose fines on people throwing it on the floor rather than in a bin! Not everyone will do it, but most will.

A similar system should be bought in like the dog poo system! £1000 fine in my area if you don't clear it up!

If you ban it, more people will do it. Just trying to be rebelious.
