In addition to the the resveratrol (mentioned by AARON G) in red wine does increase your HDLs (good cholesterol) and have numerous other health benefits, red wine also contains flavonoid phenolics. These powerful antioxidants are also found in high concentrations in the super-fruit acai, pomegranate, green tea, and blueberries, all of which i'm sure you've heard have many health benefits. While there are many benefits to getting these nutrients, wine should not be your ultimate medium for them. Although a glass every now and then certainly doesn't hurt. I guess the old adage stands true: All good things in moderation.

This Beaver Tail cactus has many tiny spines that are hard to remove when they get on you. It has many pink flowers this cactus is the Opuntia basilaris. Most Opuntia grow too fast and too tall for indoor use, but two similar species make excellent house plants; they are the beavertail cactus and bunny ears. Both grow relatively slowly, ultimately reaching a height of 3 to 4 feet. They do not have true spines but are dotted with even more prickly growths, clusters of 1/16-inch glochids or spines Innocent to look at, glochids are painful to touch and difficult to find when lodged in a finger. The beavertail cactus has 4- to 8-inch-long purplish green pads with reddish brown glochids.

Yes! As per Ayurvedic concepts the plants growing dry areas help in curing problems due to dryness and vice versa. I used to eat cactus fruits while working in semiarid tracts of the central Indian plateaus and South.
