When do they go out? My fiance said they should go on the tables and people should just pick meat/ veg/ specify dietary requirements. I thought that they would go out with the invitation so ppl could choose which they prefered, I'm aware we can do what we like ( and probably will) but what is the protocol please?

Hi Emily - I sent mine out with the invites, thats the best way to do it. I sent my invites out a year before the day as it was a summer wedding, and by the time august came round, 90% people had forgotten what theyd ordered lol!! Have fun planning, itll be the big day before you know it. xx

Any wedding I have been to, the invitation and the menu were delivered together.
But that is only if your doing set meals with a few choices in each, starter, main, dessert, this is so the caterers know roughly how many people want the chicken, or how many want the fish or the vegetarian choice or whatever
If your doing a buffet then just a range of various foods will do and people can choose themselves what they want, no need for a menu
Its really upto what way you go!

I have never ever received a wedding menu with an invite, I have only ever been to weddings where the menu was on the table and the choice made then. Perhaps they do things differently where you live, I live in the UK.
