use a kettle to pour the water in the saucepan
and a cup to put the rice in then when its time to stir the rice use a wooden spoon.

it is always better to cook rice and not expect aplaus, and cooking your hand that is just silly. I always use a rice cooker

mine is usually hand free....just keep an eye on you r hand and no handed will be used.
