as a former army soldier it is up to command who is first to invade.the 82nd airborne division invaded kuwait when all this mess started.the reason the army was first is because the ship they were on was closest and the men were transported to saudi arabia by plane and then they jumped from another plane possibly a C-137 into kuwait.the marines were deployed a day or so later but if they had been closer to the objective they would have gone into the hot LZ first.it depends on who can be there the fastest.

Ok ill give you the strait info.

The army traditionally goes in after the marines as the marines first occupation is to enter kill and destroy. Then the army occupies.

But over the years especially in Iraq, the military has been working so closely with one another there was no order. Every one attacked at once, and every one occupies.

As far as the old and new ways of things, keep in mined im keeping the special forces out of it. The special forces Navy Seals, Delta, and Marines Force Recon, preform recon specific enemy captures and assasinations. Aslo they do air port and oil platform raids.

The army rangers and army air born were used for similar operations but on a larger scale. Since they operated in larger groups.

But I have to admit. As a Seal when ever my team went on mission and needed more men. We took marines. Not army. Even the delta and the green berets took marines rather than army.

I mean realistically marines are better trained, go threw harder boot camp and usually are a tougher breed. You know what your getting with a marine. Im sure you can find an army infantry guy with the same or better skills than a marine, but on average, you would want a marine on your side.

What it is the president can send the Marines anywhere in the world for about two months without the approval of Congress and a Declaration of War; so often times the Marines are first on the scene. Usually if there are no troops around the closet ones get the call up. However in modern warfare the Air force is always first to soften things up a bit then the ground troops.

Remember World War 2 in Europe, D-Day and all that?

All Army All the Time. All the Marines were in the Pacific.

Just an example that the Army can do everything.
