I am male,Indian,47 year old, but 50% of my hair has gone grey. In the past I had taken several allopathic medicines, including steroids, for diseases like asthma, hypercholesterolemiea, piles, bacterial and viral infections etc. Is it the reason for grey? Or is it natural at 47 to become grey? Besides I have been using hair dye (containing parapheneramine) every 15 days for the last 8 years. Any long term side effect of this? Anybody, preferably skin doctor, may please answer!

As you age, you lose pigment (also called melanin). When the pigment first begins to fade in the hair, you being to acquire gray hair. When all of the pigment is gone, then you have white hair. Usually around 45-50 is when most people start getting gray hair, but that varies with gender and race.
Overdying of the hair can also cause grayness.
I am a junior in high school. We just covered this in my AP Anatomy class. I figured it might help you a little bit.

its natural to go grey but yu may wanna slow down on hair dye - eventually your hair turns to an ugly shade that wont respond to hair dye. There's nothing wrong with greying - i think its sexy..... BUT in man only!!
