Remember, I'm asking how, not have. Stories would be nice.

It may sound weird, but for a few years there I struggled, suffered from depression, and was afraid to 'put myself out there' for fear of rejection. Then one day with no where else to turn I had a long talk with God, gave everything I was holding in up, let it go and prayed to find peace and happiness in my personal life. It didn't happen overnight, I had to do my part, one foot in front of the other, and as the poem goes... God was walking, sometimes carrying me along my path. Today I have a daughter I am so proud of, she's beautiful inside and out, and I have a husband that is my everything, best friend, lover, sounding board and a strong family.

God answers differently to each individual in each Dispensation.
One thousand years ago, in answering to a prayer for love, God may give the jungle man a sweet voice to sing to the ears of his lover; to the man in the meadow, God may give him a boat to take his sweetheart down to a flower garden.
Now, to answer a prayer for love, God may give the city woman a nice car to take her family to the sea for a vacation; to a woman in the country, he may give rain for her garden and sun for her newly harvested wheat, to secure food for her loved ones.
For myself, through some elementary learning from the teachings of the Messenger of God for our day, I realize that God, out of His boudless love, already gives me more blessings than I wish to ask, so I only pray to express thankfulness to Him and to praise His unfaded glory. Just think, what is more precious than our suffering soul which is guided by His Divine Revelation?

When I was a Christian, they were never answered. I always had something different happen, so I would rationalize and say a) god must want me to learn something else or b) god is showing me what i want in another way; when in reality I was just living life as it would have been without prayer.

just because your prayers aren't answered the way you want them to be doesn't mean they aren't answered

I have had many prayers answered but not always for what I required
