Usually I do not smell when I meditate. My teachers taught me to focus on my breathing and let go of anything enters. If I am aware of something over than my breathing, I let it come in and go out.

Now for your question, what is the best incenses for visualization during mediation. Obviously the ones that help you visualize. If you can ask this question, you already know the answer.

If you are a Christian I advise you not to use incense for meditation. Christians are to meditate on the word of God. Ps 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord (ie the word of God in NT terms), And IN HIS LAW HE MEDITATES day and night. The purpose of meditating on God's word is to obtain revelation (rhema) from the Holy Spirit so that we receive faith. Rom 10:17 So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word (in Greek - rhema) of God. So we meditate on God's word to develop our faith and to have God's word written in our hearts (ie spirits) and in our minds. God bless you.

my favorite incense is ylang ylang. It is supposed to lift your mood, but I don't know if it increases the efficacy of meditation.
