I'm in a constant rollercoster ride. Ups and downs, mostly downs. Taking medication is my last option. Any advice, tips on what to do?

Depression is most of the time caused by something in your daily nutrition or a lack of it. For example by a lack of vitamins/minerals, too much sugar intake, slight dehydration, etc... Like others suggested try a vitamin/mineral complex, practice your favorite sport to ensure a good bloodcirculation and most importantly drink enough water , because without this vitamins, proteins, etc.. will not get transported through your body enough.

A blood check might give you some ideas to what you can do.
I heard of some people who said they were depressed because they didn't feel "alive". They took up some adventure program to get their adrenaline pumping and claimed they felt much better.... just an idea

Dr Finky thinks it sounds like you might have bipolar. It sucks big time. The ups are good until it gets too fast that your heart is racing so fast it's scary, and the downs just suck suck suck.

I could give you a lot of tips on how to relieve depression. But the others are probably doing that, so I'll give you the most important advice I think a person with serious downs needs.

If you can't take it anymore and you're having a breakdown, get yourself alone or with a trusted friend. Sit down and have your friend very very gently wrap their arms around you or wrap your arms aroud yourself and rock back and forth. This reminds the body of when we were infants and is comforting. Breath deeply, try to clear your mind, breath.

Another important pice of advice is that when it all seems like the world is a bunch of crap and you want to die, do anything to keep yourself from taking any drastic steps. Punch a wall, scream, look at pictures of your family/friends who would miss you.

It could be a chemical imbalance, and in that case nothing but medicine will help. It's sad but true. Treating a chemical imbalance without medication is like treating a brain tumor with asprin. And treating it with therapy is like trying to treat lung cancer with therapy. It just doesn't make sense.

I hope you are okay and your life isn't all bad. I hate depression and I hate that it messes with so many people.

Shine on

There are a number of things you can try. Drinking tea (good tea)
like Green Tea, Lemon Balm, Oolong. Also Vitamin D is very important and many people have declining levels during the fall and winter months, due to the lack of sun we get. Vitamin D actually acts like a hormone and by taking a supplement it may reduce your depression. Good diet without chemicals, additives, growth hormones and preservatives, which all no good for our bodies or our health. Check out this site;

All the advice before mine is excellent!
The only thing that's missing is that you need to identify what it is about your life that's depressing you. Once you've worked that out you can make some changes, or address that particular problem.
The advice everyone else has given you will help you feel better as you deal with the core problem.

Good luck sweetheart. It's a tough road we have to travel sometimes!

Give up mainstream pharmocology. Go see a naturist. Go to a nutritionist. Go to any person who makes a speciality of Chinese medication. Be verified for allergy symptoms. My mother had a cousin who used to be identified with a wide variety of intellectual problems and grew to become out she used to be allergic to such a lot of specific matters that what she might have wouldnt preserve existence. They needed to be convinced with proscribing principal difficulty matters ( like eggs made her homicidal). Dont fall for a host of 'this pricey miracle herb will healing the whole thing' stuff however get your frame chemistry straightened out and Im lovely definite your existence will upgrade. Look me up and allow me realize! Good good fortune.

Keep a journal, workout, practice deep breathing and meditation. Change what you eat to include lots of fresh fruits and veggies, along with plenty of water. Also, consider vitamins (B100 will help stabilize your hormome levels) and natural remedies (apple cider vinegar, pure noni juice and St.John's wart are all effective). Take a trip to the health food store and discover numerous options to improve your mental and overall health. It worked for me, it would work for you. Feel free to email me for more info if you'd like.
