why do shia muslims offer namaz without folding the hands?

i asked this question after i converted and this is what the moullanah at my mosque told me.....

Astagfirullah if i do not post this story correctly i will amend it later if i am incorrect on any of it...

a Prophet (pbuh..... i do not remember which Prophet he said... this is why i will ammend my response later) was praying and God told him to tell the ppl to put their arms down...... when they did, many of them dropped idols out of their sleeves. it is just a representation that we have nothing to hide and worship Allah alone.
