ok, at ten days old it is very very difficult to tell the diffrence in a Hen(female) and a Rooster(Male)... but there is a way, it is just hard, you can take there wing feathers and look under them there will be long tube like things that run through the feathers if they are long, they are a rooster, if they are short they are a hen, this is how we always tell the diffrenece, but again it is not always 100 percent....as they get a little older and bigger it will then become easier, as they get bigger a hen has a hump at the end of her butt her tail feathers will have a hump, and a roosters are more smooth..... and you have to feed them chick starter..... about twice a day.... good luck and god bless

Just go to Google and type in "Baby Chicks" There is a ton of info..way too much to put here. They do have to have a chicken starter mash available to them all the time, as well as a light to go under for warmth and fresh water.

Check out one of the sites...gives more than enough info ...best wishes!

They need food available all the time. Just keep the feeder full of chick starter at all times and fresh water too.
As for sexing them it itakes lots of experience to sex a baby chick. You have to squeeze the poo out of them first and look at the inside of their vent (butt hole) and if they are smooth and shiny it is female if it has a small bump it is a male.
My uncle owned a hatchery when I was a kid and he had a lady who sexed all of his chicks she had been doing it for about 30 years.
As far a sexing chicks goes for me I just wait until they are older and then I know for sure.

I was watching the show dirty jobs and they squeezed the chicks so that they would poop, then they looked at the butt/hole thing

I dont recommend squeezing your chicks as that seems a little cruel.

Nope...you will need to wait a couple more days before being able to sex them. -- PA
