This depends on what the ticket is, what the judge says and whether there is an officer testifying. I would imagine the ticket says right on the front what you need to do. It may be worth it to consult a licensed attorney to take care of the issue and ask for the most lenient punishment as possible.

It may not be totally necessary to appear in court. I have had plenty of tickets and did not appear. if you are able you can pay it online. however, if you want to do traffic school you may have to appear. just dont forget about it and not take care of it. you are allowed an extension if you cant take care of it in the thirty days. good luck to you.

********************* NUMBER 1 ANSWER *******************
Court appearances for moving violations are almost always necessary.

Check the summons for a box that says:
"Court Appearance Required"
If that box is checked then you MUST APPEAR. If it is not, then you need not appear if you are paying the summons.

If you are still in doubt, call the Court Clerk and ask if you need to appear. The Phone Number should be on the Summons.
