Oatmeal-apple cookies!! I love them. Make them all the time for my family and they all seem to enjoy them even if they don't like oatmeal or apples. I wouldn't make anything with nuts in it if your neighbors might have some type of nut allergy.
Or chocolate chip cookies since everyone seems to love those. I don't make them because(this is strange) I hate chocolate chips!!! The only chocolate cookies I ever liked were those milk chocolate ones that are soft and chewy, you know those really big ones where you can only eat one. I didn't really enjoy those cookies as much as the oatmeal apple cookies.
Here's the recipe I use it is real simple and a good way to get rid of over-ripe(or bruised) apples that people just leave to the side and always end up rotten in a few days.

Hi Abby, I really like home made oatmeal and raisin cookies. But if you want the popular, you should bake home made chocolate chip cookies. I can't think of 1 person i know that doesn't love home made chocolate chip cookie. You are a special person for baking home made cookies for your neighbor. I wish you were my neighbor...hehe... A Friend.

My boys like Rice Krispy Treats (of course). Sometimes I make them the regular way & add some of those little red cinnamon candies. Sometimes I make them using either butterscotch chips or peanut butter chips.
My husband on the other hand LOVES my Pumpkin Nut Cookies. They are easy & they are sort of cakey. I am NOT a pumpkin pie fan (the texture grosses me out) but I really like these.....
CREAM TOGETHER: 1 cp. Cricso shortening & 2 cps. sugar (I use splenda now)
ADD: 2 cps. libby's pumpkin (16 oz. can) & 4 eggs
MIX WELL
SIFT INTO LARGE BOWL: 4 cps. flour, 8 tsp. baking powder, 2 tsp. salt, 5 tsp. cinnamon, 2 tsp. nutmeg, 1 tsp. ginger
ADD CREAMED MIXTURE & MIX WELL
STIR IN: 1 cp. chopped walnuts
DROP BY TABLESPOON ON GREASED COOKIE SHEET
BAKE @ 325 IN A PREHEATED OVEN FOR 10 - 15 MINUTES
CAREFULLY REMOVE TO COOL ON WIRE RACKS

Soft molasses cookies. They're addictive, not all that bad for you and stay moist longer. And besides, everyone makes chocolate chip.
