I posted this question as an Australian. It seems this is seen elsewhere. But I think your responses answer my question. I think you have a great moto. So great that we should have the same. Saves us thinking of our own.

LOL... I like the last sentence.

But no, it shouldn't be the motto of a secular government. It kind of defeats the purpose of keeping the government NEUTRAL on the subject of religion.

Yes, the founding fathers put the saying "In God We Trust" on the American currency. They did.
Ironically, if we tried today, the federal courts would almost certainly hold that adding such a saying today would violate the prohibition in the first amendment to our constitution against the establishment of a state religion.
As an aside, I have seen the statement added at restaurant cash registers, "In God We Trust...all others pay cash."

That was the Second half of the password, the answer to the Tylers question in Older Masonic ritual. The Pyramid and the Eye are a couple more symbols of Masonry. In fact the early bills are jammed right full of it. wierd eh!

Actually, this was put on the American currency back in the 1860s expressing many people's sentiments back then in wanting to acknowledge God on their currency.

I don't think that it "saves us thinking of our own" as you have said, but we do the best we can and with all the rest (that's outside of our control) we must trust in God. What else is there to believe if you believes He can control everything?

"In God We Trust"? well, "God" has ever been a medium of commerce. oldest profession, aside from prostitution, is the shaman who scares the tribe into giving him more than his share of the meat so he'll convince the gods not to wrath on them.

few things sell better than Jesus and Elvis

"Saves us thinking of our own." Sure, if you mindlessly follow empty platitudes printed on pieces of paper, I guess it does. But then again, you probably wouldn't be doing much thinking anyway...

Who is the God of Australia?
The Bible refers often to God in plural.
If someone let you eat S--t, will you trust your smell, your nutritionist or God?

Funny that it is written on the money. Does this mean that money is God?
