For the same reasons girls cheat. They are bored or think the grass is greener on the other side. I guess #1 would be lack of sex from their partner though.

I'm really sorry you had to go through this. It must really hurt.
I think that some people don't really know what love means. To them it means that the other person really pleases them. So maybe this guy 'loved' you because you pleased him in some way...you built up his ego, stuff like that. Then another girl comes along and pleases him as much or more than you did. That's when cheating starts. It's all about him and what he wants.
Healthy people know that love is about having the other person's best interests at heart. If he really loved you then he would *never* have cheated. That is, he would have cared about you, how you felt, and would have been loyal to you.
The worst part about this is the pain that it must have put you through. I imagine you must feel betrayed, humiliated. Maybe in some way you might feel that you are 'to blame'.
It's his fault, not yours. You trusted him and cared about him. Those are noble things. He betrayed that. That makes him the loser.
To get past this you have to slowly build up contacts and friendships with people who are genuine and know how to love. The exposure will make you feel loveable and worthwhile. You will also learn to trust again. It's all a matter of conditioning.
Things will get better. Don't worry. :)

As in a girl! I don't really know why boys cheat. But from all the info that i heard from my friends, there are quite a few reasons by boys cheat. First, is that he don't like you anymore. Second, he's sick of you. And third, he just want to make you jealous and see what you will do! Hope this will help you.

Some men live there life between there legs rather than use their brains .I have worked with plenty of men with loverly wives they were romantic always buying them gifts but as soon as they went out alone or with another male they chased every girl for sex .We have a saying here "once a cheater always a cheater".
Not every man is like that !!!!! Look for a more trust worthy man.

It's not your fault. It's his, so don't you go pointing the blaming finger at yourself. He's obviously not the right one for you. I know, because I had the same experience. Lucky for me, I met a better guy through SinglesNet Dating when my friend invited me to go check out this site http://www.upkb.com/singlesnet.php
