You will be in jail and he will still be boss. Find another job. What comes around goes around and he will get his in the end. We have all been through this same type of situation.
He doesnt give you the respect you deserve and his "powertrips" show his low self esteem. Just leave.

You might need a vacation.
Letting someone this low on the totem pole get to you is not good. You need some stress management.
Realistically, if you do physical harm, you will pay far more than it is worth. The scumbag could sue you or at the very least press charges, make you spend tons of money in court fees, possible jail time, and even ruin your chance at getting a better job where you don't want to harm others.
Get a grip, for your own sake, okay?
I felt this way once about a store manager where I had to do a monthly sales call. I loathed the guy. He tried ridiculous power plays on me all the time, and he was a grocery store manager. A guy I had to see one day a month. Who he thought he was is still beyond me. What snapped me out of it was making fun of him to my sister.
He had tried to threaten me once by dropping the name of my district manager, which he got wrong. He said something like "Your district manager IS Bill York, is he not?" I looked him square in the eye like he was insane and said no. Later, the joke with my sister was that I had told him, "No, YOUR district manager is Bill York". It showed just how ridiculous the whole thing was.
Learn to make light of it so it doesn't eat you alive.
Then watch Office Space a few hundred times.
Then get a different job. Or hope he does.

That's one way to take a long vacation! One dumb way.
Why let him get under you skin like that. You are just feeding his already over inflated ego when you retaliate. Play it smooth and cool. Let him look like to jerk and the bad guy. It wont be long before the real bosses see through him. Besides Butts like him are a dime a dozen. The next one could be twice as bad. He has the rope so let him hang himself.
If you can't.. then go to his boss and request some personal time off. If he pushes for a reason tell him/her in a civil and well thought out way that your current boss has pushed you to the edge with the way he undermines them and throws his weight around once they are gone. No boss likes the idea that an employee is undermining them and causing chaos.
Be the bigger man don't stoop to his level of immaturity.
Good luck to you!

You must be the better man. Rise above your anger. Your boss is on a power trip. Some people just don't make good bosses. I think you should just mentally challenge him. Play a mind game with him and show him just whom is the smarter one. Sometimes a good challenge of the mind makes people step back and rethink their position. When you incorporate violence with any scenario they will be repercussions that certainly in your case would not be worth it to you. And if you don't end up in jail or fired he still will be the same jerk on the same power struggle when you return from any unfortunate situation you may have found you self in from you own violate actions. So again if you challenge him with mind control he may just realize his position and back off. Think out side of the box.

You can't work if you're sitting in jail. Talk to human resources department. Dig some dirt up on him. Get an anonymous email, send him porn, then report him for viewing it. (don't really, just an idea) In the business world, there's much more satisfactory methods of revenge, if you're creative.
If he's really overstepping his bounds, report him. if it's severe, he'll be fired. If it's not, be a man and tough it out, and one day he'll get what he deserves. The cubicles are usually not greener on the other side.

jeremy, calm down. listen to some thrasher rock like the song surfacing by slipknot, go make love to a girlfriend or your wife or a stranger, have a drink, smoke some funny stuff, or just get some more sleep. Do not hit the guy because it will not be good for you in the future.
If you hate him that much, get another job or maybe you could transfer. Whatever you decide, do not hit him.

First, I understand your frustration, but do not go break the man's nose. He could have you arrested for assault in front of everyone in the company, making you look like a low down loser and him the innocent victim...which is what you don't want. Instead, take one of these two paths: either kill him with kindness or look for another job. Good Luck with either!

Wait til Wednesday.......call the electric company,
pretend to be him and tell them you are moving and need the electricity cut off on Friday.
Call the gas company and do the same thing.
ohhh.......sign him up for a subscription to "Play Girl"
yes.....you heard me......playgirl and have it sent to the office as his address.
Now sit back and bask in the knowledge that his azz will come home on Friday and he will have no lights or gas and it will be toooo late to do anything about it.
Muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha !!!

Seeing as this is in the etiquette section, I'll remind you it is not polite to beat up your boss.
Yeah, I've had jerk bosses too. I'd just try not to get worked up over him, work hard, and someday you'll be at a better job where hopefully you won't be supervised by a nitwit.
