The war in Iraq is a "pure failure" that has left Iraqis in a worse state than when they lived under Saddam Hussein, former United Nations chief weapons inspector Hans Blix said in comments published Wednesday.

"Iraq is a pure failure," Blix was quoted as saying in the Danish newspaper Politiken.

"If the Americans pull out, there is a risk that they will leave a country in civil war. At the same time it doesn't seem that the United States can help to stabilize the situation by staying there."

Blix, in comments that were seen as unusually critical for the diplomat, said the U.S. is facing a situation where neither staying to fight nor pulling its troops out of Iraq are good decisions.

Blix said Iraq would have been better off if the war had not happened.

"Saddam would still have been sitting in office. OK, that is negative and it would not have been joyful for the Iraqi people. But what we have gotten is undoubtedly worse," he was quoted as saying

Blix is speaking the truth. I totally agree. How many iraqis have fled the the nation? countless.

And the WMD? the reasons for war make me cough up a lung in laughter.

RESEARCH A MAN NAMED Brigadier General James "Spider" Marks . He'll tell you.

The Iraq Survey Group, apart from a few stockpiles, did not find the large quantities of weapons that the regime was believed to possess.

On December 14, 2005, while discussing the WMD issue, Bush stated that "It is true that much of the intelligence turned out to be wrong."

National Intelligence Estimate (a consensus report of the heads of 16 U.S. intelligence agencies) asserted that the Iraq war had increased Islamic radicalism and worsened the terror threat.

Not sure why Blix (a swedish diplomate) wouldn't be smart enough to know there are more than US troops in Iraq. Could it be that Sweden is 99% dependant on middle east oil? It was his commission that headed up the 2002 search for WMD in Iraq. Maybe he is just trying to distance himself for all of it to save his political carreer. Many other world leader have accused him of buying time for Saddam in the 90s and early 2000s. He is also known for not liking the US. Has called many in Washington "Bastards".

Wow, Hans Blix is quoted as saying that whatever the US is doing is bad!

I am so shocked by this, it must be a day that ends in Y.

Well I am sure that his strongly worded letters would have made Saddam obey security council Resolutions.

Their are talkers and doers. Hans is a Talker.
