I've seen it in cartoons,pictures,etc. why put an apple into a dead pig's mouth? and also,why an apple??

The apple naturally draws out the fat in most meats! The mouth is and opening to where you want the flavor to go! So as it roast the apple juices seep into the inside of the pig cutting the fat and adding flavor!

Pigs get hungry spinning over a hot fire ya know! Or to remind you to get out the apple sauce when your finished roasting

maybe apple is the most well-known fruit in the world, the red shiny apple looks god in every food for garnish

To muffle it's squeals whilst being roasted. That's how it originated. Why is it still practiced? I don't know. Tradition, perhaps?
