Is 'In God We Trust' our national moto ? If so, has it always been so ? If not, when did it become so. I might be wrong, but doesn't it come from those that say skedule and have a habor ?

Truman had the slogan placed on the money in the 50's and he also added "Under God " to our national anthem. It was due to the big communist scare during the 50's as a way to show we were better than those Godless communists.
In God we trust....The rest PAY CASH. (A sign at a bar)

In God We Trust was placed on U.S. currancy during the Civil War. It first appeared on the 2 cent coin in 1864. In 1956, it became our nations 2nd motto, along with E Pluribu Unum.

During the Civil War, Secretary of the Treasury, Solomon Chase, instructed the Mint to put the motto on coinage in 1861.

"in God we trust is also a pretty cool thing to have on our money, because it explains a lot about who we as a country, even if not as individual, are.

Most of the "under God" and "In God" stuff was added in the 1950s as a way of demonstrating to the world that we weren't like those terrible Communists.

It should be the moto. I don't think it is officially but it's always been on the money. I'm shocked that it still is considering there have been so many issues involving the Pledge at schools and all. I hope you feel the same way.
