Piercings generally hurt more, but tattoos hurt for longer. Lip piercings aren't too bad, the tissue is very soft so the needle goes through like butter. As for nose piercings they're sort of a different pain, kind of like a burning sensation. The pain isn't anything you can't handle though, so go for it.

Well i have heard Tattoos hurt really bad, but of course i wouldn't know which hurts worse, because i don't have a tattoo. But i do have 7 piercings. I have ears, tongue, nose, ect. The tongue didn't hurt at all except the whole swelling process for a week, but other than that it didn't hurt. The nose hurt like a B*tch.. the tattoo place that done it has done all of my families tattoos and piercings and has always done a good job, but when it came to my nose they didn't do to hot of a job. I filled out the papers, payed the man, went back and set down in the chair.. then he done the whole process and ran the needle through my nose and then while he was trying to get the jewelry through my nose the whole closed up so he had to clean it and go back through the whole piercing process, then after that he got the jewelry in, but couldn't get it twisted in the back of the nose so he had to call another guy to come and help him with my nose and finally after a half hour and my nose pouring blood they got it finished. It will be 1 year in Jan. that i have had it done and it still hurts and i can't take the jewelry out because it isn't healed yet. So i suggest that you get a lip ring or something besides your nose. But w/e you choose i wish you better luck than i have had w/this nose!

A back tattoo or a wrist tattoo, anywhere where the flesh is really delicate. Then again some people have different pain tolerance and any kind of tattoo will hurt. As for piercings I would probably say somewhere down below.

Although it's repetitive @ this point, I will note again that it depends on the placement for all of these. Piercings: I have my nipples done, and I have never experienced that kind of pain before or since. Truly, I would not do it again, but since I already have them, they're sure as hell not coming out. Tattoos: I have a 4" square space done on my neck that didn't bother me @ all, but the 12"x3.5" one on my lower abdomen made me want to cry like a little girl. If you're just getting something for the heck of it, go with a piercing. You can always change your mind with those. Think of a tattoo as a life-long commitment. Good luck!

I can't tell you what hurts more. No one can. Keep this in mind though: a tattoo is a constant pain, but you get numb to it after a bit. A piercing is done and over with rather quickly, but the pain comes from infections and things that can happen to it during aftercare.

Another thing is depending on where the tattoo or piercing is, it'll hurt more (in most cases). Tattoos close to bone and on areas with thin skin tend to hurt more. And most people feel genital and nipple piercings are the worse, though in my opinion, they weren't bad at all.

So its two different types of pain that everyone takes in a different way.

I can only tell you that based on 4 tattoos and 24 piercings that my leg tattoo (calf to thigh) hurt the most and the longest while my worst piercing was my tragus (done last night), but it was only bad for the piercing itself.

My tattoo was on my ankle.. on the outside.. it only hurt when they were on the bone.. however, i have personally had to catch two friends as they passed out from getting their belly buttons pierced. I think my piercings hurt more... but its all a matter of where you are getting them.. and how long it will take. I was in the tattoo chair for 3 hours.. that was nothing compared to my 3 minutes in the piercing chair. ouch. and the healing on a piercing hurt more too. I never had any problems with my tattoo after the fact, it just felt like a mild sunburn

I would say a Tattoo hurts the most. You get over the stinging of a piercing as soon as it is done when with a tattoo it is a constant stick of a needle. It also really depends on your tolerance for pain.

In my experience, tattoos hurt more.
Out of all my piercings, my nipples hurt the most (as it's to be expected!).
Out of my tattoos, my rib and elbow tattoos hurt the most.
As a rule, any piercing near nerve endings will hurt and any tattoo near the bone will hurt.
My lip piercings didn't hurt too bad. Felt like getting my ear lobes pierced. Nose didn't hurt too bad either.

For me the worst part about my nipple piercing was the clamp. After he put the clamp on pierced it and removed the clamp it was pretty much over. Mine took about 6 weeks to heal though..that was bad, but it didn't hurt. I have 4 tattoos and none of them really hurt. Like others have said the closer to the bone the worse it hurts.. Good luck with your piercings or tattoos and always follow up with the aftercare..Thanks

It depends on what you can tolerate better...a sharper pain for less time (a piercing), or an annoying burning/scratching feeling for a longer time.
For me, and I know they say these don't hurt, but my belly button and rook were my most painful piercings, and I have quite a few...the guy who did most of my piercings said conches are the worst, but mine weren't bad. I've heard a lot of ouch about septums and nips as well.
As for tattoos, I've heard the ribs are the worst area, as well as the sternum and ankle bone.
