Being the practical kind, I always head for the crafts area of our local megastore. If the girl is into jewelry, there is a kit that will allow her to make her own bracelets and stuff. If she likes horses or cats, there is needlepoint stuff for that. If likes making messes there is pottery... etc.

Also if she is having a party, in that same area are these picture frames that each child can sign and a picture of the party girls can be put inside. Another popular party gift is the stuffed animals that each kid can sign.

My DD just turned ten. Her favorite gifts were; an inexpensive MP3 player, a trampoline, a Target gift card and a really great game called "Carcassone."

Music...radio, journal, and gift cards are good, if she is into close... but I personally think that Brats doll are for 12+, they are a lil to revealing... don't want them to grow up to fast or have them thinking its ok dress the way they do, or that its ok for them, at that age, to wear that kind of make up. Alarm clock radios, karaoke machines are also cool...just depends on the child tho. HAPPY BDAY to this child... double digs is a big birthday... o also, its fun when they can pick out restaurant, and pick out a dinner from the adult menu : ) hope that helped lol
