You are young & they care about you & want what's best for you & want to protect you. Especially if you are the youngest or an only child. You don't understand it now, but you will when you're older.

If one behaves like a 2 year old, one would probably be treated like a 2 year old. On the other hand, there are people who would treat others like a 2 year old come what may.
In any case,
did you ask your parent this question? Listen what they have to say. It's not easy for a 13 year old to do this, but give it a try.
Then, tell them how you would want to be treated and what it is that you have to behave such that you will be so treated.
The whole family may just learn from this conversation what it is that each side is annoying the other.

I am sure they don't treat you like you are 2, come on. They probably treat you like a child, which you still are by the way. Too many parents treat their 13 yr olds like 23 yr olds, don't be in such a rush to grow up. Being an adult is not so glamorous, there is allot of responsibility which again is what your parents are trying to teach you. SO instead of complaining sit up, pay attention, and LEARN how to act in a adult manner and I am sure you will be treated as such!
P.S. Its becasue they love you too

Before I became a mother I felt exactly the same way. They love and care about you, and only want the best for you.
Thirteen might not feel young to you, but in the grand scheme of things you are very young. If you look at the average life span of a man it is about 70 years, which means that you aren't even a quarter of the way there!
Believe me, when you're an adult and have responsibilities and children of your own you'll wish that you were still a kid with someone to look after you and fix everything for you.
Oh, and when my kids want to do something that I think they're too young for, I simply think of how many hours of labour I had with them. If my son wants to go somewhere unsafe, I think to myself "I didn't go through twenty-two hours of labour with him, only to lose him at such a young age".
Maybe your parents think the same way.

Wow, I know it can seem like they're treating you like a baby but I bet they're just really concerned about you and want to to become the best man you can possibly be.
The best way to get them to "ease up" is to act as responsible as you can. Don't argue with their rules ... BE trustworthy and they WILL trust you.

The best way to earn trust and respect...
is to be trustworty and respectful.
Oh, and you ARE young.
I will be turning 21 in less than two months, and I am young as well.
We both have so much of life to experience.
That is why some say that with age comes wisdom.

because parents will always think that their kids are still their little babies. why don't you sit down with them. maybe you can ask them for more responsibility and when they see that you can handle it than maybe they would ease up some. good luck brad.

When I was a kid I used to daydream about being an adult, driving, eating whatever I want, doing whatever I want. But as you mature and are given more responsibility ,you realize that you don't want to do any of that stuff . which is what maturity is. It's a catch-22. And I know teenagers think adults are the crazy ones,.. used to think that too but I realized its the opposite...punk kids.
