I use Windows XP Pro., an I have 2gb of memory an the only way for your programs to load faster is to open your "task manager" and see what programs you have running that are eating up all your resources.
And the ones that are like 20,000 or 15,000 memory usage, determine if you can remove any of them or find a same type of software with lower use of your resources.
Example, if you have Nortons running for your antivirus system that is pure junk for years and continues to get worse each an evvery year. This is a hugh hog on resources. Get rid of it.
If you do have Nortons, you should use what I use an I never had one virus in nine plus years and this program uses very little of your resources.
http://www.avast.com Download thier free home personal version. They will ask you for your email so they can send you an free key that is good for one year. The corporate version is the very same, they just make corporate pay. (Company is in Prague).
Don't know what else I can tell you because there is no other way to speed of the loading process. You have to get rid of the programs that eat up your memory.
I had http://www.ewido.net Ewido Malware, an I removed it becasue their guard was taking up to much of my memory. I installed a simular program from http://www.emsisoft.com Out of Austria. This A-Squared Spyware comes free or purchased. An I use the purchase with a background guard like ewido, but it uses less memory.
Noticed that my programs load faster.
Will also tell you that I have 175,000 plus objects in my system.

Try hybernating alternatively of shutting down. Still, Windows has continually been a painfully sluggish working process besides. At one time there used to be this comic story..... "Did you pay attention that the Federal Government simply purchased a brand new laptop? It's obtained 10,000 Pentium Processors. It's so quick that it could possibly boot Windows in underneath five mins!" To allow hybernation, pass to Control Panel, Appearance and Themes, Display, Screen Saver, Power. The laptop will hybernate in line with your settings, and startup so much quicker. With this even though, you aren't getting a blank process at any time when, however alternatively the situation it used to be in whilst it hybernated. Still, it is a quicker startup. This additionally takes a few disk area because it quite a bit your RAM onto disk, and restores it whilst waking up.
