I have had enough of people that never phone, visit or return phone calls but feel that if they send me a text messages every few months that means we are 'best friends'. Does anyone else think that it is rude that some people use text messaging as the only way to maintain a friendship?
I have decided that I will be boycotting texting!

I have a friend like that. 6 years ago during high-school we were the best of friends, and now she'll send me a text every month or so and just expect me to drop everything to see her for lunch the next day.

Actually I agree. at least in part with you on that. I turned my son's cell phone off because off the Texting bill I got.. It was over $700.00!!!.. He wont talk on the phone but he has GOT to text.. Which I ask is easier?? Puting the phone to your ear.. or trying to get the right letter on each numerical button??
Its not as if the people spell correctly anyways when they text.. so whats the point when you have to figure outif a 5 year old got ahold of the cell phone or if its an 18 year old who just doesnt want to take the time to spell what they are trying to wite..
Whats the freaking POINT!!!??
So yes I agree as I said at least in part.
I think that no one without a High School Diploma should be permitted to use texting..

well, personally, i like text messaging almost as better as calling someone. If i don't feel like talking to anybody, i just send them a text message. Because some people you just can't get them off. But in your case, i agree with you. You said they aren't returning your calls, so that means you ARE calling them but they aren't calling you. Text messaging isn't rude if you still talk to the person every now and then. If you two are best friends, he/she should call you instead of sending you a text message. But i don't think you should boycott texting all together. leave that person a voice mail and tell them to call you instead of text you.

I agree completely, too. Texting, when you should call or speak in person, is just lazy and (in some cases) rude behaviour. Hopefully, some kind of texting etiquette will develop and fewer people will do it (like fewer people shreak on their phone whilst on the bus or the train!).

I prefer to call. Txting is so unreliable. I hate it when people txt me, and my phone is off or something so I don't get it, then the person attacks me for being a rude ***** and not answering. It's like, if you want to know the answer so badly why don't you f**king call me, idiot? I hate txt!!
