Okay Dear, first let me share with you it wasn't done safely at home, or you would not be having these complications. Now, here is what you need to do. First make an appointment with a physician, sounds like you have a bacterial infection from the description you've given. Also with the red bumps, the infection is spreading. I'm not trying to scare you, but there is a rapidly occurring staph infection, that is literally sweeping the nation. It is appreciate MRSA, stands for methecillen resistant staphylococcus Auras. Having said this, it is a very serious bacterial infection and requires antibiotic therapy to cure yourself of. Even if it is not staph, it still needs to be evaluated by a physician, and with pus, redness, red bumps, all of these are MAJOR SYMPTOMS THAT SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. Neosporin oint, is seldom effective against an advanced infection. Anytime pus is present the infection is advancing. I'm a Registered Nurse and please heed the warning, go and be seen by a doctor ASAP, if this is not possible go to the nearest emergency room. You need not suffer with an infection in this day and age of health care and modern technology. Please go to the doctor.

Any infection that does not clear within a few days, or an abscess should be shown to a certified medical practitioner. In some cases the infection can be cured and the piercing is just fine. In others, because of the infection the hole may close and you have to get another piercing done. This does not mean you can never have a belly ring. It just means that you need to let your belly button heal and then try again. In the end, it’s going to be worth the trouble

Some stores sell special fluid made just for cleaning out piercing wounds. I know Claire's does, because they give you a bottle of it when you get your ears pierced there. Just use that, or if you can't get it then use antibacterial soap, a few times a day and stop using the sea salt, it apparently is not making things any better. It might take a while to heal, but its the best thing you can do. In the future, get piercings done by a professional. Any piercing besides non-cartilage ear piercings should be done using a special hollow needle, because it creates a clean hole through the tissue instead of pushing the tissue out of the way, which decreases the chance of infection.

RE:
How do I cure a really bad belly button piercing infection?
I got my belly button pierced at home safely, and it was doing fine, until I had to replace the jewelry because it was uncomfortable.
Ever since I replaced it with a smaller sterling silver ring it has been getting redder and redder. I made sure to strerilze the ring and the area around my belly...

I had mine pierced by a reputable shop (when I was quite younger) and still had some pus issues while it was healing. Best thing to do is try to leave it alone except when you are cleaning it once or twice a day. Use soap while you are in the shower, turning the ring each way. Put neosporin on it after you get and and again rotate the ring to get the cream into the piercing. Stop all of your other ministrations and don't touch it when you aren't in the shower! If it continues to get worse or if you get a fever, call your doctor.

Pussing & bleeding are signs of infection. Please get Rx for oral antibiotics & take them.
remove the ring entirely & stop insulting your body. it is not natural for piercings to coexist with the body. And if you wear piercings, remember - the less you touch it the better. You're playing with fire. Piercings might not get infected - but there are no guarantees - they can be fine for a while & then get infected later on. so cut out the nonsense - your vanity is not more important than your health.

Go see a professional body piercer or a medical doctor. I would also recommend removing the ring, and never ever ever do a piercing by yourself, as the people who do them are trained professionals who know how to keep a sterile field. There are alot of ways to contaminate a sterile field.
Oops, missed the part about the red bumps til Strawberry P pointed it out, my reading skills haven't been quite up to par lately. Ya, take it out immediately and schedule a doctor visit ASAP.

You could be using too much, you body could be allergic to silver... many factors come into play here... It sounds to me mostly likely that it is infected, which means you need to go see your family doctor and talk about an antibiotic. I'd make sure to keep it really clean, stay away from the sea-salt, antibacterial soap and see your doctor.
