Good question! I'd never thought of it, but in towns they often are. It provides visibility and easy access from two sides, but there have to be more reasons than that. If you look back a century or so, was there more prestige associated with a corner lot? Were better houses built there? Could it be that they were originally placed at the "center" of town where two roads crossed, but as the town grew it was no longer the center but just another corner?

I'm not sure why some of them are. Mine's not. In fact, of all the many churches I've attended in my life, I don't recall one of them actually being located on a corner. But I know what you mean, and have seen many churches that are, in fact, on street corners.

Well to begin with Churches were important buildings that many people would want to get to from different directions, so it would make sense to have them at an intersection of roads. Perhaps people just got used to seeing them there so that's where they built them?

Our Church isn't. It's on a hill.
I would think some choose corner lots for the easier access to the building, and to make it easier to see.
Good question, though.

Too funny. I am in California and all the churches I can think of are on corners too. Now you have me wondering why.

An old myth perhaps? Or possibly it's symbolic of a crossroads in your life, or turning onto a new path? I've never given it much thought... It's an interesting thing to note tho. Thank you!

Because they're big? So they take up like the whole block, and wind up against at least one of the corners.

given the size of the property with parking and the building it is rare for property so large to be anything but on a corner.

Why do streets always intersect where churches are?
