This may seem like a cheesy question, but I know there is no such thing as "Romantics Anonymous", so does anyone know any good resources out there for dealing with a romance addiction. By romance addiction, I mean somebody who is in love with falling in love and has similar side effects to a drinking problem. Thank you for your help!

Yeah, this may sound like a really cheesy answer, but my readings about blood sugar imbalances indicate that many addictions or compulsions may be the result of the body not having enough blood sugar in the blood stream at times. The addiction gets one excited, which stimulates the release of sugar.

Check out the symptoms link at www.hufa.org and see if you have any other symptoms of low blood sugar, too.

Chemicals released in the brain that give you that euphoric feeling like puppy love and butterflies. Some who are intimate can become addicted this way too. So, it's all in your head not in your heart. Many people lose that loving feeling after awhile with others and are always looking for their new love fix. I would ask your doctor or see a therapist about meds to bring you in balance. Sometimes it just takes time and reality to set in.

Realize that falling in love is not going to fix the problems that one is experiencing.
I am a recovering alcoholic myself and through AA I began to realize that not only was I looking for alcohol to "fix" me but I was looking for a man to "fix" me and in doing so I was always picking the wrong person.
Today because of what I have come to find out about myself through AA I am looking at men in a different light.
Today I know that I don't have be on someone's arm to be a person myself.
Try working a 12 program and substitute the word man/woman for alcohol.

Hey I don't think you or your question is cheesy. If you stop and think about it, we girls HAVE been raised on Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella,etc.,etc., so it only bodes well that we would have the "glass slipper syndrome" and yearn unrealistically for our prince-charmings....it's what we were fed to believe! Walt Disney sure didn't take that into consideration did he? And ofcourse romance is always well, more romantic when we are dreaming it up versus REAL life...huh?
