I'm a flight attendant and we have lots of teenagers that fly alone. The best thing to do: preboard with the families with small children. I know you aren't a small child but it will give you a few minutes to do the next step. When you get on the plane just tell the flight attendant that greets you that you are non an unaccompanied minor, but you are flying alone and are a little nervous. They will be more than helpful in finding your seat, giving you some encouragement, showing you where the exits and bathrooms are and will also keep an extra eye out for you during the flight to make sure you are safe and comfortable. Bring a few things to keep you entertained on the flight like an ipod, good book or handheld game. And pack a few snacks like crackers or cookies-many flights don't have free meals anymore and if they have meals for sale they usually have to be paid by credit card (and they don't taste good anyway!) Don't be afraid to ask questions of any airline employee. We like helping with little things like this before you are in a total panic or frustrated. Then, just take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the flight!

Air liners only believe in business and they don't want a superstitious customer to feel unlucky by giving them seat no 13. This way they don't loose any of their superstitious customers. Non superstitious customers will not mind why there is no seat no 13. Airliners are lucky that 13 is not a good luck number for some other people, if that was the case, they would have been in a fix.

its to do with the number 13 which is considered to be unlucky by some. yes, its related to omen. there are many hotels which do not have room 13 or 13th floor. more to do with the hospitality department where they would not like to take chances with emotions & beliefs of the people using their services.

Because they think people are stupid enough not to realize that the seat behind the 12th seat is the 13th seat, if they don't mark it with a 13.

It originated with witches covens supposedly being composed of 12 witches and a 13th member - satan. Naturally, it's bull (true witches don't believe in satan) but people never seem to get over their superstitions.
