I would like to get the recipe for a cookie Paula made on her show around the second week of October. It only had 4 or 5 ingredients--butter, brown sugar, and I think an egg and something else. She served them with vanilla ice cream. They were dusted with powdered sugar. I can't remember the other recipes on that day. These seemed to be very easy to make. They were baked in a pan like brownies but there was no chocolate. Thanks

Could this be it?
Brown Sugar Chewies Recipe courtesy Paula Deen
Show: Paula's Home Cooking
Episode: The Working Lunch

1/4 cup butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup chopped pecans
Confectioners' sugar, for dusting

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray an 8-inch square pan with vegetable oil cooking spray.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Turn off the heat, add the brown sugar and stir until smooth. Stir in the egg. Stir together the flour and baking powder and stir into the brown sugar mixture. Stir in the vanilla and pecans. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes. When cool, dust the top with a sifting of confectioners' sugar.

Her voice bugs the crap out of me and like someone else, I am not crazy about her or Rachel Rays 'cuteness'. I also don't like how Paula wears those huge rings and mixes stuff with her hands. I have seen a show where she tastes something with her finger then goes back and dips it in the same dish for a second taste. Yuk! Her recipes are pretty typically Southern fare and I don't think she promotes healthy eating at all. She's not a bad person I don't think - but too much butter!
