I'm not a fan of Jim Beam, even tried the Distiller's Masterpiece, my favourite is Pappy Van Winkle 20yr old. Any improvements?

Reading the responses I thought I might add a couple of my favorites.
Blanton's It's a single Barrel Bourbon and very very good
Buffalo Trace
Bookers, Straight from the Barrel Bourbon approx 127 proof
I second the Woodford Reserve very good also.
As a correction, All Bourbons are whiskey, but not all Whiskey's are Bourbon. To be a Bourbon it has to be made in the US in new charred white oak barrels. To be known as a Kentucky Bourbon, it has to be made and aged for at least one year in Kentucky. Jack Daniels while made similarly to Bourbon is not a Bourbon. It is a Tennessee Whiskey. It goes through the Lincoln County process, which is filtering it through sugar maple charcoal which gives it that mellow taste.
Someone mentioned Crown Royal. That is a blended Canadian Whiskey and is not in the same league as Bourbon. If you like Canadian Whiskey then you probably will find Bourbon harsh. Blended Whiskey's are different whiskey'e mixed together to achieve a certain taste. The Distiller may mix 30 or more whiskey's to get the taste they are after. That's weak. Sorry I am a Bourbon man tried and true. Bourbon is the only designated American Spirit by Congress.

Marker's Mark Gold.

It's only sold within Kentucky. Smooth, smoky, best drank straight.

Makers Mark. Its not too expensive and you can drink it straight.. All good bourbon's are called sipping , the cheaper ones are only good for mixing..
