Just wondering why people actually read, and, more to the point, BUY this crap.

Jack Chick has mad literally millions by telling lies about religions that he doesn't agree with. From saying that Pagans sacrifice humans and animals, to saying that Catholics WORSHIP mary. Anyone in either religion knows these to be patently false. Still he gets away with it, and the poor unsuspecting readers actually believe it.

When did lying about other religions become acceptable practice for Christians? Does the command about bearing false witness not apply when talking about other religions?

When did Jack Chick become the accepted authority on Salvation; I don't see the prayer he describes as the correct one in any book in the Bible? If there were a correct formula, woudn't Jesus have told his disciples?

What really gets me is that people are wasting trees to make paper for these rags that could better be used when answering nature's call.

As far as the plan of salvation.... If I were to believe things just because someone told me I'd get in trouble, every time I was told, I'd be one paranoid girl, simply because, even among Christians, you can't belong to ANY christian denomination without somebody calling you a heretic.

My Dear Frankie. The real definition of Pagan is anything not Christian. Ok... there are some tribes and such that do sacrifice animals and / or humans. The contemporary term Pagan, as used in the United states might better be termed NeoPagan. Not withstanding, Jack Chick would have you believe that all Witches and American Pagans practice these same things. He's quite simply lying.

As to Mary, Catholic teaching denies worship of Mary, and anyone doing so is actually practicing heretical beliefs according to the Catholic Church. Jack is simply taking the beliefs of some and saying it's institutional. Another lie.

I love Jack Chick's mad ramblings, he's the one that got me interested in the occult to begin with. I collect his tracts because he's old and when he dies, they'll be worth a lot more. It's just fun reading, I don't take it seriously.

It's pretty much the same as those "hell houses" that attempt to "scare people straight" and bring them to Christianity... by showing how "horrible" the non-Christian world is.

They start with false premises, IMO, so they end up with a false conclusion. To them, *any* tactic is valid so long as it wins a convert. The claim is that the unsaved soul is *so* important that they are, effectively, willing to throw out everything that the Bible states to bring someone to the fold. Anything becomes permissible so long as it's done in the name of God - something that history has shown to be the cause of a great many ills.

They don't seem to realize that if they spent a fraction of the time and money performing honest ministering, they'd find better results without tainting it with hatred and lies. But advancing their narrow interpretation of their religion seems to be more important, which is a very sad thing indeed.

We are in the age of anti-religion. The END TIMES!

In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 the Bible speaks about the coming of “The Wicked One” or the Anti-Christ. It refers that “deceit” will be used as his source of power and says:
3 Do not let anyone deceive you in any way.... 9 The Wicked One will come with the power of Satan 10 and use every kind of wicked deceit on those who will perish. They will perish because they did not welcome and love the truth so as to be saved. 11 And so God sends the power of error to work in them so that they believe what is false. (Emphasis added) 12 The result is that all who have not believed the truth, but have taken pleasure in sin, will be condemned. (St. Jerome Catholic Study Bible)

So error (erroneous ideas) is what leads anyone and even whole societies into doing things they should or should not do. If Satan can not subdue a persons will into disobeying God, he resorts to trying to deceive a person into believing something that is false. Even Jesus Christ was tempted by Satan quoting scripture, but Jesus saw through Satan’s deceitful fallacies. How many times then has Satan used scripture to deceive others?

Lying has always been an acceptable practice for Christians, despite that commandment stuck in there. See all the claims of how archeological findings support the biblical stories, when they don't.

Regarding the "and many Catholics do worship Mary" comment above. Perhaps there are some "catholics" who treat Mary like a goddess.... but that is their own doing. That is not Catholic teaching.

That's like saying "Some protestants kill abortion doctors and blow up abortion clinics, so therefore that must be what they teach at all those protestant churches."

That is invalid logic.

The Catholic Church teaches there is only ONE God and that Jesus is the only Mediator between God and Man.

But when you pray to Jesus for someone, you intercede for that person. You are praying to (asking) Jesus FOR that person. And THAT is what the Blessed Virgin Mary does for us. She prays to her Son for us. She joins us in prayer. She intercedes with her Son just like at the wedding at Cana.

Further, if I ask you to pray for me, I have prayed to you (asked you) to pray for me...."pray" means "to ask". Look in the dictionary. The example is "Pray tell me the time".

Regarding the Chick tracts. Pure 100% trash.

This article talks about them:

Pagans historically do sacrifice humans and animals and many Catholics do worship Mary--especially in Mexico and Latin America. Define worship. There's only one way to God and that is through Jesus Christ our Lord. There is no other intercessor.

HA, I think they're hilarious! I'd never buy them, but luckily, you can read them online. Always good for a giggle.
Then, when you think about what kind of moron it would take to take them seriously, you can laugh again. =)
