Up everynight!! went to bed @ 10:30 up at 12am, wide awake. Been taking Zoloft 50mg since March, but taking myself off it cuz of weight gain, so I just started taking 25mg at night. Should I take it in themorning? Why did my Doctor say to take it at night? I have anxiety, the norm everyday stress. Also on 25mg Tennormin for heart flutters but been taking that since 1999. How can I sleep the night through? Don't want to take sleeping pills.

My Dr. didn't want to put me on Zoloft because I have anxiety and she said it would make it worse.
I would try taking it in the morning and see if that helps!

You need to lighten up; you are way too serious a person. Insomnia is simply a lack of peace reserves in your mind. Consider the best sleepers--kids. They like to joke around and have a good time 24 x 7. You need to do the same thing. Watch a funny kids movie like "Shrek" many times and review the funny scenes in your own mind. Build a joke collection from Readers digest or ahajokes.com or watch Jay Leno's jokes and review them. Go to greeting card shops, find the funniest cards and buy some to keep and review. You have to ease up! Spend time with kids or just watch them and admire their joy--they live and think in a dreamy place of joy where you need to go. Spend time with dogs or keep puppy pictures around--kids love dogs and their cuteness builds your peace reserves. Put these ideas into practice and you will laugh more easily and sleep better in time and solve the trouble. Problem is the healthcare community has no clue how to solve insomnia, only treat it with drugs which does not solve it. You were made as a kid to have a good time and you lost that somewhere along the way but you can reclaim it.

I am on Anti-depressants as well and have the same problem. I have even tried a couple of sleep aids and didn't sleep! I am sure you have tried the common things to do when not able to sleep. Reading a book, etc. Recently I have started going to the couch when I couldn't sleep and for some reason changing where i was sleeping worked. Also, if you consistently excercise during the day and avoid caffeine that helps as well.

Depression, and anxiety can cause insomnia, try taking Zoloft when you first get up. Maybe Zoloft is not right for you. Ask your doctor to try you on something different? Sixth months is plenty of time to see results. Try looking @ Webmd.com for answers about insomnia, and depression/anxiety. Web adresses below.

Sounds like you may have low blood sugar. Check out www.hufa.org - especially the symptoms link. If you check out as having low blood sugar, then a protein based snack about 1 hour before bedtime may help level your blood sugar for night.

May explain the anxiety and stress during the day.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!
