The day I took a urine test, I had not smoked marijuana for 30 days to the dot. I found out today I tested positive for it. I have never heard of anyone testing positive longer than 28 days. Why would it have shown up in my system still?

Background info - I was a very heavy pot user (for the past couple months I was smoking on average 5-7 grams a day), I found out I was pregnant and stopped smoking. Thinking maybe since I am carry some extra weight/fat due to the pregnancy that it's just holding on longer, since I know THC metabolite is stored in your fat cells. If this holds true, what is the maximum amount of time I could possibly test positive?

Depending on your body fat content, it could be quite a long time since you were such a heavy user. In your case, I would guess you are metabolizing your body fat and the THC that is stored within it is being released back into your bloodstream in minuscule (yet detectable) amounts. In the future, I would advise you to discontinue your use of marijuana. In the meantime however, flushing your system with a liter of water and urinating at least three times before a test will most likely keep you from testing positive.

First of all, if you think you should get a pass because you were 2 days over the 28 day "limit", after smoking 5-7 grams A DAY, you must still be smoking.

The 28 days thing in generally true for an average person who smokes ONE joint. It may take you months to get the metabolites completely out of your system. Your child will probably piss-positive for pot. I don't know if the metabolites are fat soluble, but if they are and you are pregnant... your body isn't going to be giving-up fat any time soon. That means you will have metabolites stored in your system until you deliver, so up to and after your pregnancy you may still piss-positive.

If you were habitually using marijuana 30 days prior to the drug test it should be in your urine for up to up to 12 weeks, which is much more than 30 days. It is a common misconception that it flushes out of your system after 30 days. It is usually flushed out after 30 days upon single use.

Test become positive according to what test was performed. basic Urine test can detect Cannabis for up to 12 weeks, blood tests for approx. 2 weeks and hair for up to 90, days.

The ranges of positive results depend on amount and frequency of use, metabolic rate, body mass, age, overall health, drug tolerance, and urine pH.

If you are retaining extra weight it is very possible that the exam would turn out positive. Quick flush type drinks are usually ineffective as well especially if you company opts for samples that may test for products such as these. Drink more water an urinate as much as possible.

Yea, what boneheads. They knew this was coming for months now. If you can't get straight then I don't think you so have that job. There are many people looking for a good job. I have a pretty good job, but I would trade it to work for a NASCAR team any day. And by the way team owners out there, I have never done any drug so I can start first thing in the morning :D

We just had this problem with my daughter. I talked to the people at a drug rehab. and they told me that since women typically have more body fat it can take longer to get it out of your body. My daughter is ill with gall bladder disease and since her liver is inflamed that will also take longer to detox. Different metabolism rates will also affect how long it is in the body. So the 30 days and out is no longer the rule for THC. It also depends how heavy of a user you were. Its good that you have stopped due to pregnancy.

Most users would not have any in their urine after such a long time...but the more heavy your usage, the more is stored up in your body and the longer it takes to be clean.

Are you going to stop for good?

If you are a heavy smoker, it will take longer then thirty days. I think it is more like sixty days. Please do not smoke it while pregnant.
