I think that does happen for the most part. my opa had that and at the end of his life he did get pretty mean. he never did hit anybody or anything, but his words where not too kind. If you know someone who has this and they have been not too nice, please remember that this person is not themselves and if if was not for this awful disease, they prob would not be that way!!

It's just a part of the way the disease affects the brain. Alzheimer's is a degerative brain disease that effects not only memory but behavior and personality. My dad has Alzheimer's and he can get pretty nasty! Also, when he talks, most of it is gibberish, but the curses come out perfectly clear.

Alot of the women tend to become "pleasantly confused." They're in their own little world, don't know where they're at, but they seem to be confused and happy. If I ever get Alzheimer's I hope I'm this way.

NO. Most of the people I knew or know were not violent. I lost my uncle two years ago from it, never was violent. My mother has it now, has had no signs of violent behavior.

I don't know if all of them become violent/mean. I know that part of the disease is the lack of "filters" on behavior--they don't think before they act/speak and therefore everything comes out, which includes swearing and violence. My dad has AD and he tends to mostly turn the violence toward himself (he hits himself in the head/face when he can't remember something or gets frustrated) or he throws objects around (not at anyone). He's more likely to get angry, more like to swear, more likely to go stomping away if things aren't going his way. It's upsetting and frustrating for me and my mom, but we try to imagine how much worse it is for him. Especially when he's angry because he can't make himself understood and he's trying to explain something to us.
