I have dated the same guy for 4 yrs now and between his kids and his ex wife, I feel worn out from the emotional turmoil. The kids are grown, but keep on moving home every little bit. They are 30, 28 and 26 yrs old. Only the oldest has gainful employment.
He pays support in his younger boys and he cannot get his nose out of their mothers business.
He wants me to go on a vacation with him in December, but I cannot imagine being with him every day for 10 days. I think I would go crazy. Sometimes I feel relieved to be away from him.

If that's how you feel then go, move out and get the freedom you want. If you guys are not yet married, there is no way you should treat yourself like that. You have your emotions too. If in 4 years time and he have not decided which way to choose and how long will you saty that way..then I guess give yurself a chance to be happy...coz as you tell it you are no longer enjoying your stay. And besides, marriage is vital. You can not just date someone for that long..and never have commitment..because at the end, you will be the one who loses value, not him and you will realize that you wasted a time that should have been given to the one who deserves it.. Pray hard. Hope this helps. God bless

Oh my...if it's been like this for 4 years, I would've left after 1 year! Why do you need all of his drama in your life? If you don't want to live like this for the rest of your life, leave now and find someone with a stable family life.

You definitely sound like you need some time apart to breathe. I say wait until the vacation comes close and if your gut feeling gives you a bad sign, then don't go.

After the first date I know whether or not I can stand to be with him in a long term relationship or not.

I think you might want to sit down and carefully read what you have just written -- it might be a wake-up call for you.

The real question for yourself might be: "How long WILL I date somebody when I come to the conclusion that the relationship is going nowhere AND IS DRIVING ME BANANAS?"

If you can't tell within the first few seconds, then you are really setting yourself up for a long date.
