I asked a question and some Christians answered "look into the context...".

Here was my question:

Is it a defiance of God's will that we human once again speak one language?

The Bible claims that God intentionally made men speak in different tongues. English is fast becoming a world language. Is it a sin to learn other language?

If the Tower of Babel story should not be interpreted literally, How about other stories of the Bible?

Is the existence of Jesus factual?

>Do yourself a favor and find something else to worry about...the bible is mythology. You could at least find some entertainment with the Lord of the Rings<.

As I see it...
The Bible is the infallible word of God or it isn't. If it isn't, assuming God exists, then how can we humans decide what part of the Bible God wants us to use and which parts to discard. We couldn't.

If an omniscient God exists would a Bible be too hard for him?

If feel there comes a point where a person needs to choose... IS the Bible the infallible word of God or not? Choose to believe all of it or non of it.

There are parables in the Bible, but they usually don't give specific names. In the case of The Tower of Babel, the story is meant to be taken literally.

I do not believe the speaking all one language was the problem. The problem is what they were trying to do. The Bible says that when people get together with one goal nothing would be impossible for them to do. No where does it say that this is no longer a possibility.

And you are right... English is fast becoming a world language. If the nations, not just the leaders, got together to solve some problems there is no limit on what they could do.

The Bible is completely true. No archaelogocal discovery ever made hasa ever disputed any fact ever mentioned in the Bible. So, therefore, I know I can answer your question truthfully.
-Is it a defiance of God's will that humans be able to once again speak one language?
Think about it. Let me show you something. Because of one sin...
-Adam and Eve, one sin changed the outlook of the entire world. If they had been obedient none of this would have happened.
-Abraham sleeping with Hagar, Sarah's maidservant, because she wanted a child.Ishmael was the baby's name. Did you know that the entire Muslim group was created from Ishmael? How many thousands of people have died because of that one sin? How many are going to die because of that one sin? One sin, was all it ook and is all it takes. Every decision you make have the possibiltiy of CHANGING THE WORLD.I don't believe the nonsense of people saying that one sin couldn't cahnge the world. HELLO! ONE SIN!!!!!!!!!!One. That's all it took. Same thing with the Tower of Babel. The people's one sin has caused thousands of differnet languages, and look at all the sin occuring now. Racism, etc...
-Is it a sin to learn other languages?
NO it isn't. I promise. God wants the good news about Him shared. If it takes learning a new language to do that then that's what God wants them to do.
Your last question the answer is yes. You need to really get some faith. In amajor way. Or you need Jesus. Please go to www.gotlife.com

I think you are missing the point why did he confuse the languages at the tower of babel? what was nimrod doing ? Gen 10:9 says of nimrod he was a mighty hunter in opposition to God so his stated pourpose was to oppose God in every way it was Gods stated pourpose that mankind at that time should spread abroad all over the earth! Gen 11:1-9 there is now nothing wrong with speaking any language as there are over 3,000 currently in use world wide one day he may return all his true worshipers to a pure language a universal one that day has yet to happen it is up to him also see Ps 83:18 OKJV Gorbalizer

all the big key points are important and when you really want to go there, pretty realistic and possible. if there were cliff notes for the bible, then that would help a lot. the second america was started, God was watching in case we did something stupid, because his will is being done; in my opinion; things will happen all over again, and besides the tower of babel sounds like a war that seperated all the factions

The Tower of Bable story didn't say it was a sin to speak one language. God confused the languages so that people wouldn't continue in the errant ways they had chosen. It also served to spread humanity in the earth, as they were very localized at that point. The story should be interpreted literally, but you're reading something into it that isn't there.

Here is my interpretation; The Tower of Babel represents the world.
The people on it are causing its destruction by challenging the work of god, (or nature's creation) Early signs are evident by wars, famine, climate change and dwindling life sustaining resources.
This tower (The arrogance of man) will fall and whomever survives if any, will be left worthless, and brought back to the stone age, where this cycle will repeat itself.

Even if there were no Bible there is more historical evidence and writings about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus than any other person or event in the history of mankind. The reality of His presence on earth is irrefutably documented in secular history. If you really want to know the truth (and I doubt you do) I suggest you start out attempting to disprove the Bible. That is the best way to find out that it is true and relevant and those who snub their nose at its message will regret it.

All of the Bible is factual. There are many things happening that are against God's will, but happen because of our free-will and sin. Because we are created in God's image, we have free-will and, therefore, live in a world plagued with the consequences of sin. We live in separation from God and His will for our lives. Our lifeline/ ONLY WAY to God is through Jesus Christ and His death on the cross for our transgressions.
